Topics
Centrifugal pumps : construction.Types.Impeller. Velocity triangles. Pump head. Characteristic curves. Efficiency. Capacity regulation. Pump selection. Cavitation. Stability. Specific speed. Series and parallel operation. Special impeller pumps. Excercises.
Piston pumps : construction. Pressure calculation. Accumulators. Axial and radial piston pump.
Special pump types : Gear pumps. Screw pump. Van pump. Lobe pump.
Compressors : one stage and multistage piston compressors. Rotary compressors. Screw compressors.

Prerequisites
Mechanics I and II

Final Objectives
AC2 : the student is able to collect and use technical and scientific information concerning pumps and compressors.
SCA1 : the student is able to apply theoretical and practical knowledge : mechanics, thermodynamics and fluid mechanics
SC2 : the student is able to provide simple industrial solutions related to pumps and compressors
