Objectives
The main objective is to provide a solid and broad scientific basis (chemical and physico-chemical) which in practice gives access to the application of a great variety of qualitative and quantitative analytical methods and which allows to interpret correctly the derived specific literature.
From the students is expected that the have a clear insight into the fundamental analytical principles and that the are able to link this knowledge to the required instrumentation and a number of important industrial applications in the field of quality control, problem-solving,...

Topics
Theory:
In the first part (chemical analysis) the basic principles(sampling methods, statistical data processing,validation,reporting, volumetric and gravimetric methods...) are treated.
In the chromatographic techniques the basic principles , the different chromatographic methods (CGC, HPLC,TLC,IEC, SEC,...) and derived qualitative and quantitative procedures are studied.
In the “Instrumental Analytical Chemistry” a lot of physico-chemical and derived techniques in the field of electrochemistry (conductivity), the molecular and atomic spectrometry (absorption- and emissiontechniques) and surface-analysis are treated in detail.
In the practical exercises, one starts with the basic (physico) chemical qualitative and quantitative analytical techniques. Later on more attention is paid to an integral approach of applied analytical scientific-technical problems

Prerequisites
Objectives, obtained in the chemical basic modules of the first and the second year bachelor chemistry.
