Distinguish the advantages and disadvantages of PLC versus wired control.
Design simple combinationary and sequential electrical controls, enter it synoptically
Integrate a PLC programme into an electrical connecting scheme. Build in emergency stops, safeties in a PLC program.

The course covers the following topics :
Why PLC , software versus hardware, advantages and disadvantages, function,
programming, components, safeties, supply and communication.
Integration into eletrical circuits, realisation and test, diagnose and tracing faults.
Discussion of a simple sceme, examination exercises.
Normal function versus side conditions, emergency stop, safeties, ...
Small projects.
Evaluation of projects.



Prerequisites
Basic knowledgment of digital techniques.
To be able to apply the CAD course and the electrical projects.

Teaching Methods
Theory : the seminars students will be taught by means of lectures, exercises and examples.
Seminars : exercices, assigments seminars.



Assessment
Theory (oral / written examination)
Exercises (seminars permanent evaluation)
Seminars are adjudged by means of permanent evaluation and reports.

Study cost : a course cost about 300 BF
Advise : Thorough preparation (previous and at home) of the assigments is necessary.
Both the CAD - course and the electricity projects are considered to be actual knowledge.
