Objectives
The theory forms the background for the more specialists branches of the microbiology that is lectured in the 2 and 3 year. In the first year 3 micro-organisms are treated : the bacteria, the fungi and the viruses. The morfology, structure and proliferation of bacteria and fungi becomes micro-scopicly investigated in the lab parallel with the theory.
The students learn to make microscopic slides, to colour and investigate them, to prepare media.
Following attitudes are developed : accuracy, safety and environment-minded, independence, accuracy, order, ..

Topics
Theory :
Introduction; mycology (cytology, structure and proliferation); bacteriology (morphology, cytology, genetic recombinations, proliferation and growth curve, mutations and variations, growth needs, antimicrobiological agents); virology (morphology, structure, infection, lysogeny).
Practical :
Description and use of optical microscope, techniques for inoculation, making slides, colour techniques.
Mediumpreparation.
