Objectives
The students should realise that written and oral communication in foreign languages, i.e. English and French, are very important in business life nowadays. Therefore they should be able to:
-understand a text correctly;
-understand what is being said;
-put something into words correctly.
The reading, listening, speaking and writing skills are practised and tested by means of practical exercises.
Concretely this means that the students should be able to:
-understand and use branch-oriented (specialised) vocabulary;
-understand articles and/or texts about technical and scientific subjects;
-apply grammatical rules;
-express themselves in different business situations.


Topics
Grammar:
English: occasional and systematic study of grammatical topics
French : occasional and systematic study of grammatical topics
General and branch-related vocabulary
Speaking skill : e.g. correcting pronunciation, business communication
Reading skill : branch-oriented texts and/or articles
Writing skill : spelling, sentence structure and translations
Listening skill : exercises with audio-visual aids


Prerequisites
- English : 2 hours a week during the last 2 years of secondary school -French: 2 hours a week during the last 2 years of secondary school
