Challenges and bottlenecks of small and medium-sized enterprises

Objectives
After the course, the student will have improved his knowledge, understanding and skills concerning the economic process of a small or medium-sized enterprise. This part of the training teaches students how to deal with complex financial and economic problems and tries to draw up models, which make it possible for him/her to manage and manipulate these problems through a combination of theory, facts, ideas, cases, analyses, etc.

Topics
This course offers an introduction in the analysis of corporate strategy and the understanding of better and more successful entrepreneurship.
The training integrates all aspects of present-day entrepreneurship through a combination of theory, facts, ideas through cases and focuses on the elements of success, e.g. strategy development, competitive advantage, profitability. In all these elements the knowledge of the basic concepts of management, accountancy and cost calculation plays an important role. Short delivery terms, JIT and JOT, a small or no stock at all, cost minimization, customer satisfaction and productivity of the production factors are not buzz words, but place greater demands on management. Because of the hard competition, the question remains how production methods could be made even more effective and cost-cutting. This requires broad, practice-oriented and theoretical expert knowledge in future jobs.
