Objectives
This course aims at teaching you to produce and to deal with oral and written texts which you may expect to be confronted with as a junior professional. You also get a more thorough insight into communication strategies such as 'positive clasp construction',
AIDA etc. to produce effective business messages (both written and oral).

Attitudes and skills such as independency, preciseness, flexibility, sense of responsiblility, team-spirit, time-management, organisation skills etc. are incorporated in the course.

Topics
You train all kinds of communication skills: looking up information, analysing information, structuring and editing the messagge.
You train techniques needed for business and commercial letters, reports, memos, business presentations, telephone calls, meetings, leaflets, negotiations etc.

Prerequisites
Basic knowledge and skills are necessary.

Teaching Methods
Case-study:
Togheter with a few fellow students you work on a case in which you have to deal with a number of communication tasks (both written and oral).

Teamwork:
You work in small teams.

Active learning:
You have to demonstrate you knowledge in realistic situations.

Self-study:
You are responsible to look up the theoretical information in the study books.

The teacher as a guide
You don't have to attend 'traditional' classes but the teacher can be consulted at fixed moments. He/she guides and monitors the learning process, helps to solve problems, guards the quality of the (team)work.

Assessment
First exam session: 100 % permanent assessment (oral feedback, group evaluation, portfolio)
Second exam session: no new assessment. The examinationmark of the first exam session is the same as the second exam session.

Examination Board Flemish Community:
First and second exam session: the assignment for these students is self-study (theory and exercises). The written assessment is taken as the examinationmark.
