Objectives
To become familiar with, and gain an insight into, social policy at the different executive levels and into the powers of the respective government agencies. To gain an understanding of how social consultation is conducted and make students better acquainted with the organizations which are a party to those discussions at the different levels. To develop an abjectively critical outlook on that plicy, based on the needs of the social worker's sphere of action.

Prerequisites
The training modules "Administrative Law" and "policy and organization of social work" (1 st year) lay the foundations for this course component.

Topics
Contextualization of the basic concepts 'social policy' and 'social consultation' and the impact there of on the sphere of activity of social advisers.
So as to get an idea of the policy that's being pusued at the different levels, a face-to-face workshop is arranged with a handful of agencies, organizations and services. To add gravitas to the proceedings, several guest speakers are also invited.
All visits are well prepared and followed by an after-the-event discussion.

Scoring system :
Examination: no
Assignments: yes, worth 14 points
Continuous assessment: yes, worth 6 points
Criteria: attendance, active partcipation in the group discussions, preparation of the visits, objectively critical reflections and factual reporting as regards content.
